Activities that a Coach Could Suggest

  • Watch a sport movie or video with your child.

  • Purchase books or magazines on sports for your child.
  • Start a parent/child home exercise program.
  • Practice skills at home or at park with your child.
  • Encourage your children to work hard in school to keep grades up.
  • Help your child with homework.
  • Keep track of the nutrition that your child is eating as fatty foods, and fast food can take away from active participation in sport.  
  • Make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep (minimum of 8 hours).
  • Encourage children to practice with their friends.
  • Encourage children to develop realistic goals. These are things that they can achieve with hard work and can be successful.
  • Talk about sports with your children.
  • Take your child to a live sports game (professional, college, and high school).
  • Purchase appropriate equipment and teach your child how to use it.
